I’ve seen the original Karate Kid, but I don’t really remember it. Plenty of people do cite it as a classic. When I heard this one featured Jackie Chan I was both excited and confused. The excitment is easy to explain, the confustion coming through the fact that Jackie Chan does Kung Fu, not Karate. But we’ll gloss over that to enjoy the film shall we?

For something set in the 80s it felt a lot like something from the 80s with a lack of the cynical blatentism seen a lot these days. Perhaps I’d have enjoyed it more had I not watched it on the back of The Hangover. That said it ends up not so bad really.

Well that’s what he’s done, sounds utterly preposurous. I was pleased to discover that it actually works really well. Again when you hear that Robert Downey, Jr and Jude Law are to play Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson you’ll be surprised to hear those are listed respectively. Totally not the way round I expected.
